Dr Ihu Admonishes Joint Action Committee, Moses Orshio Adasu University to Shun Intended Strike Action
Ag.State Head of Service, Dr. Eunice Ihu has admonished Joint Action Committee (JAC] Moses Orshio Adasu University (MOAU) to shun it's intended strike action and embrace dialogue as it was the only panacea for resolving disputes in any public organisation.
Dr. Ihu, stated this on Monday, during a stakeholders meeting with the Principal Management staff of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Non Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists, (NAAT), in the conference hall of her office, thanked them for their resilience and patience on the issues of concern and urged them to give government some time as all hands are on deck to ensure that all issues of concern are resolved amicably.
Dr. Ihu, noted that the administration of His Excellency, Rev. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has prioritised the welfare of civil servants in the state as evidently seen in the prompt payment of worker's salaries, renovation of the State Secretariat, training of 40,000 civil servants in ICT amongst others. She assured them that all issues of concern will be duely addressed as a verification team sent to the university had already submitted their report and they are working up the modalities with the view of harmonizing the grey areas for smooth payment.
Also Speaking the Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Micheal Oglegba, noted that all modalities have been put in place to ensure that all arrears owed the unions are paid and called on them to give government a little time as the month was far gone and implementation wasn't possible this month but will be done next month if the university authorities can source for other sub heads so that they can do an availment to settle their demands.
Speaking on behalf of the unions Comrade, Luper Shishi, commended Gov. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for the priority attention given to the welfare of workers as well as the massive infrastructural development witnessed under his administration.
He explained that strike was not always an option, until when all avenues have been exhausted, it automatically becomes the last resort and appealed to the Government to act fast by implementing the contact and clear it arrears from the month of January this year as the unions had already run out of patience
