Benue Links Takes Ember Months Safety Campaign to Otukpo
Benue Links Nigeria Limited has taken its 2026 Ember Months Safety Campaign to Otukpo Park, urging drivers and staff to prioritise passenger safety, obey traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving and maintain professional service standards. The campaign also emphasised fair luggage charges, valid driving licences and responsible conduct throughout the travel period.

The General Manager of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa, KSM, MNIM, has taken the company's Ember Months Safety Campaign to its Otukpo Park, engaging staff, drivers and passengers on the importance of safe and responsible road use.

The campaign, which was conducted on Friday, October 9, 2026, forms part of the company's efforts to promote road safety, prevent avoidable accidents and protect passengers and other road users during a period often associated with increased travel.

During the visit, Comrade Fanafa inspected operations at the park and interacted with passengers before addressing drivers on the need to maintain high safety standards and demonstrate professionalism. He warned against dangerous practices such as over speeding, overloading and other forms of reckless driving, stressing that the protection of human lives must remain the foremost priority.

The General Manager emphasized that no financial consideration should take precedence over passenger safety. He urged drivers to resist the temptation to increase earnings through unsafe practices and to ensure that every journey was undertaken responsibly.

He also cautioned staff against imposing excessive or unreasonable charges on passengers' luggage and other goods. He directed them to maintain fairness, transparency and professionalism in their dealings with customers, noting that courteous service and reasonable charges were important to building and sustaining public confidence in the company.

On regulatory compliance, Comrade Fanafa instructed drivers whose licences had expired or were due for renewal to regularise their documentation promptly. He reiterated that valid driving licences, proper vehicle documentation and compliance with traffic regulations were essential requirements for professional drivers.

He further charged all personnel to remain disciplined, vigilant and law-abiding, explaining that road safety depended not only on driving skills but also on responsible conduct, accountability and respect for passengers.

In separate responses, the Otukpo Business Manager, Mr. Edache Joseph, and a company driver appreciated the General Manager for visiting the park and addressing issues affecting staff and passengers. They pledged to follow the guidance provided and observe the company's safety procedures throughout the 2026 Ember Months period.

The campaign highlights the importance of continuous safety education, responsible driving and customer-focused service in public transportation.
