Ben-Sor Commissions Community Water Facility in Ukum

Hon. Scholastica Terngu Ben-Sor, Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Benue State, has commissioned a community water facility at Ityuluv community in Ukum Local Government Area, reaffirming her commitment to improving the welfare of rural communities.

The visit was particularly significant given her family ties to Ukum, which is her late husband's home. Ben-Sor, who hails from Tyuluv in Torov, Ukum LGA, was warmly received by community members and stakeholders during the visit.

The commissioned overhead motorised borehole was constructed by the Northern Governors’ Spouses’ Forum and dedicated to the forum’s leader, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, wife of the Gombe State Governor.

Speaking at the event, Ben-Sor thanked the people for their reception and assured them that she would not disappoint them. She commended Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his discipline, commitment to service and developmental efforts, urging the people to continue supporting his administration.

The member representing Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, thanked the governor for appointing Ben-Sor and said he would arrange a suitable date to celebrate the appointment. He praised the administration’s appointments and security initiatives in Sankera, calling on the people to support the governor.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, urged the people to rally behind Ben-Sor and Governor Alia to advance development in the state.

The Tor Sankera, His Royal Highness, Chief David Mnzurghuga Sev-av, called on youths to sustain peace and thanked the governor for appointing Ben-Sor.

Similarly, the Ter Ukum III, His Royal Highness, Architect Orkaa Kaave, appreciated Ben-Sor’s visit and pledged support for the administration.

The Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Modi, thanked Governor Alia for standing with the people of Ukum during security challenges. He also appreciated the water project and commended Hon. Wombo for his representation of the constituency.

Modi said security had improved in the area, noting that residents of seven out of the eight council wards previously affected by insecurity had returned to their communities. He specifically cited the return of residents to Kunav Ward after more than seven years away, adding that farming activities had resumed.

The stakeholders expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between government and community leaders would further strengthen peace, improve access to essential services and promote development across Ukum LGA.
