Alia Seeks Regional Support as North-Central Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu For 2027
Governors and political stakeholders from the North-Central region have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has urged the region to support the President’s re-election bid.

The endorsement was announced at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State. At the event, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, unveiled a unified campaign structure to mobilise women in support of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

Senator Tinubu said existing women’s groups had been brought together under the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council to coordinate mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.

She defended the administration’s economic policies, citing improvements in foreign exchange conditions, investor confidence, and infrastructure development. She also highlighted food support programmes for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and malnourished children, as well as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

The First Lady urged people in the North-Central region to support continuity in government, pointing to the administration’s economic and social interventions.

Governor Alia urged the people of Benue State and the wider North-Central region to support Tinubu’s re-election, declaring that Benue remained firmly behind the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He attributed his administration’s achievements in healthcare, industrialisation, and infrastructure development to the support received from the President. He cited the construction of hospitals, the revival of industries, and the execution of other infrastructure projects in the state.

Alia thanked the rally organisers for providing a platform to showcase the President’s development initiatives and mobilise support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, moved the motion adopting Tinubu as the North-Central region’s sole presidential candidate for 2027. Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, seconded the motion, which was unanimously adopted.

Akume urged Nigerians to allow Tinubu to complete eight years in office, citing the principle of power rotation between northern and southern Nigeria. He also defended the removal of the fuel subsidy and cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Road as major infrastructure projects expected to unlock economic opportunities.

Governor Sule said Nasarawa State had benefited from the administration’s economic reforms, particularly in mining and mineral processing. He expressed confidence that the state would support Tinubu’s re-election.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said 21 APC governors were committed to the President’s re-election campaign.

He urged party members to resolve internal disagreements, embrace reconciliation, and prioritise unity as preparations for the 2027 election intensify.

A representative of Plateau State also expressed support for Tinubu, citing infrastructure development and the First Lady’s interventions for internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups.

Earlier, APC National Chairman and Grand Patron of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, thanked participants for attending the rally. He described the event as the beginning of a coordinated mobilisation campaign for the President’s re-election.
