Chief Hon. Solomon Terver Iorpev is a seasoned broadcaster, journalist, media strategist and public communications professional with over two decades of experience spanning journalism, broadcasting, strategic communication and public service.
He currently serves as the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Benue State, following his appointment by the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. He was confirmed by the Benue State House of Assembly in August 2026 and subsequently deployed to the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
Before his appointment as Commissioner, Chief Iorpev served in several strategic positions within the Alia administration. He served as Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Acting Chief Press Secretary, and Pioneer Director-General of the Benue State Signage and Advertisement Agency (BENSAA). His extensive media career includes service with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), where he rose to the position of Controller of News, as well as editorial and production roles with Radio Benue and other broadcast organisations.
He also worked as a presenter with Radio Benue and as a producer/presenter with Harvest FM, Makurdi, and Kapital FM, Abuja. Chief Iorpev has also contributed to the media and events industry as a media consultant, events manager and compere. Prior to joining the Benue State Government as Technical Adviser, he served as Managing Director of Dreamworld Media Plus. Academically, Chief Iorpev holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication and a Master's degree in Mass Communication/Public Relations from Benue State University, Makurdi.
Reports in 2026 indicate that he is also pursuing a PhD. He has undertaken additional professional training in areas including presentation skills, news production, editing and reporting. His professional excellence in broadcasting has earned him recognition within Nigeria's media industry. He was named Newscaster of the Year in 2014 by the Nigerian Broadcast Merit Awards (NBMA) and again in 2017 by the Print and Electronic Media Owners Association of Nigeria (PEMOAN).
As Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Iorpev has stated his commitment to strengthening government-media relations, improving access to government information, promoting an inclusive media policy and ensuring timely dissemination of information to the people of Benue State. He has also announced initiatives aimed at strengthening the professional capacity of Information Officers across the state and improving the Ministry's digital communication strategy.
